The massive forest green 153 ton Rubber Tired Gantry Cranes and the mega 1,078 ton sky blue Rail Mounted Gantry Cranes being exported from Doosan Vina’s dedicated Port facility are the latest “Made in Vietnam” products of the skilled men and women of Doosan Vina. These cranes and similar ones located at ports around the globe are the backbone of modern port logistics.
The shipment of the four Rubber Tired Gantry Cranes (RTGC) to Singapore is the first group of cranes shipped to Singapore in an order that is for 36 cranes and was commissioned by the Port of Singapore Authority (PSA). Each of the giant RTGC’s weights 153 tons, is 26m high, 25m long and 14m wide. They are designed to quickly and safely load/unload the 40 ton containers that are the standard in worlwide shipping.
The PSA project was signed between Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction and the Singapore Government in September 2009 and is scheduled to be completed in August of next year.
Sitting alongside the PSA project, onboard a second ship berthed at Doosan Vina’s dedicated port is MHE’s other shipment; three “Super Weight Rail Mounted Quay Cranes” (RMQC) built for, and ready for delivery to the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) of India.
Each RMQC weighs 1,078 tons is 101m high, 120m long, 27m wide and has a 50 ton lifting capacity. Because of Doosan Vina’s strategic coastal location and proximity to major shipping lanes the Ocean going DongBang Giant # 2 will deliver the RMQC’s to their destination in India in only 17 days.
These two latest projects are estimated to add 15 million USD to the goods exported by Doosan Vina and once again demonstrating to the world that Vietnamese workmanship and "Made in Viet Nam" stands for unsurpassed quality and world class technology.
