A delegation of experts and leaders from the Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) of Saudi Arabia visited Doosan Vina recently to see firsthand the facilities that will soon be building part of the world’s largest ever water desalination project.
The project known as Ras Az Zawr was signed between Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction and the government of Saudi Arabia and is worth an estimated $ 1.46 billion USD. Doosan Vina’s Desalination Shop will produce three of the eight evaporators in the order and each evaporator, which is the size of a football pitch, will weigh 4,000 tons and capable of desalinating up to 76 million liters of sea water per day. The massive evaporators will be manufactured, assembled, and shipped from Vietnam ready to “Plug & Play” on arrival in Saudi Arabia.
Doosan will employ the advanced technology of Multistage Steam and Multistage Flash in these evaporators that will quench the thirst of millions in Saudi Arabia.
Fabrication began in April and is schedule to be completed in July 2012.
