Doosan Vina General Director Hang Ha Ryu announced today (20.03.2013) that the company signed a multimillion dollar contract that approaches $50 million with Doosan Power System of India for the design and manuafcture of a supercritical pressure boiler for a coal fired thermal power plant.
The 800MW boiler will be installed at the Lara power plant located in the State of Chhattisgarh in Central India. Last October, Doosan Vina signed a contract and is now fabricating two 800MW boilers for the Kudgi Power Plant project also in India.
This is a supercritical once through boiler that will provide 2,550 tons of steam per hour. The large-capacity boiler will operate under extreme temperatures & pressures. Temperatures will reach 569 Celsius degrees and attain a pressure level of 271kgf per square centimeter.
“The Lara contract is further confirmation of the growing reputation of Doosan Vina and testimony to the technical skills and engineering standards of the Vietnamese.” Said General Director Hang Ha Ryu who went on to say, “I firmly believe that Doosan Vina will be a major contributor to the localization of Vietnam's heavy industry sector which includes Key Mechanical Products such as thermal power plant equipment, Material Handling Equipment and Refinery Equipment.”
This contract provides valuable experience for Vietnamese workers in the design and manufacture of Boilers for the power industry which advances Vietnam’s goal of developing a domestic heavy industrial sector and it’s Key Machenical Products.
Doosan Vina completed two 600MW boilers for India Raipur power plant in Chhattisgarh state in 2012 and the company has also completed many other boiler projects such as: Brazil EDP (360MW x 4units), Saudi Arabia Marafiq (275MW x 2units), Egypt Ain Sokhna (650MW x 2units) and is about to complete the Vietnam Mong Duong II project (600MW x 2 units). Currently, the Boiler team is producing two 800MW boilers for India Kudgi power plant.
Located in Dung Quat Economic Zone of Quang Ngai, Vietnam Doosan Vina is now employing 2,300 employees working to build five main products: Boiler, Heat Recovery Steam Generator, Material Handling System, Water and Chemical Processing Equipment.
